Dear fellow faith family members:
 
During the past several months I have been aided by Pastor  Bahr, Dr. Lingongo, and Rev. Ihlenfeld in producing what I hope will be  a purpose statement that will produce an even greater unity among us. It?s a simple statement, no fireworks, no rocket ships blasting off, but I believe elemental to who we are as a community of faith. As you can see, as you examine the statement ,it?s essential that we know Jesus Christ, not superficially, but intimately, not just the facts of his life, but his character, passion, mission, and his relationship to us and the world.  And knowing Christ, how can we not make him known?  If you find something good, you may be tempted to keep it for yourself. If you find something that goes beyond good, you want to share it with others.

Beyond the purpose statement, we have stated our conviction that the Holy Spirit will bless us as he works in and through us.

Someone told me recently that our church is in decline and there is no hope for us. I don?t believe that for one moment. As we build on our strengths and trust God to guide us we will grow and prosper so that others may know the transforming power of God?s amazing love.

         
In a short while Pastor Bahr will spend time ?unpacking? what we have put forth for your consideration. I hope that you will listen attentively and reflect on what?s being offered.

THE PURPOSE OF GRACE EVANGELICAL  LUTHERAN CHURCH

                        To know Christ and to make him known

Because we are God?s Mission, we trust the Holy Spirit to accomplish this purpose as we gather, grow and sow: 

We gather around Jesus Christ and his Word and invite others to be changed with us by God?s love in Christ.

We grow in Christ-like character, faith, love, and service; and provide opportunities for others to do the same.  

We sow the seeds of God?s love in the world as followers of Jesus Christ, so that many others may know Christ and make him known.
