Christmas Saturday 2010, I received a phone call from Sharon Stott, Hales Corners Altar Coordinator. She asked if I might have, in stock, 2 boxes of Communion wafers, 1000 wafers each, that she might have for the next day, Sunday services. They had such a huge attendance for Christmas service, she was short and could not reorder until Monday.
Since we both had guests for Christmas, I said I’d call her as soon as mine left. I did, she came, we went to Grace, I gave her the wafers. She was very thankful. Sharon returned the boxes on Wednesday, the brand they use at Hales Corners. The last box will be empty soon.
So next time you attend Communion, think about how our small Grace congregation helped out mega Hales Corners the day after Christmas 2010. What a privilege. Correction - first think about blessings received. Christ’s very body & blood, the forgiveness of sins & strengthening of faith.
